November 24, 2015 - A hit at RG's 50th birthday bash tonight. He was mostly drinking champagne -- nothing to apologize for there. Those of us who enjoyed this magnum of 2000 Chinon were quite abundantly pleased. Lean and structured, but with a solid beam of red fruit on the palette and a spring-like bouquet of violets and strawberries. Had I found time to give it my full attention amidst kibitzing and other sundry hosting duties, I might have more to say -- and may in fact have boosted the score by a point or two (as Melissa T was suggesting I do). Happily, I have 2 more of these to look forward to. Based on this magnum at least, they are nowhere near played out at 15 years....and counting....
