December 31, 2023 - 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot
13% abv
Medium body, mature garnet color. Impressive aroma of ripe black and blue fruits, black pepper, cedar wood and spices’ box. Plum and black currant on dainty palate, following by juicy acidity, ripe tannins and lingering, still fresh and charm finish. Complex and rich, but delicate, harmonies and perfectly balanced. Gorgeous wine. Food friendly, well pairing to medium rare entrecote. Serve 16ºC - 20ºC. Open one hour ahead. Drink now and for the next 4/6 years, perhaps longer.1 person found this helpful Comments (5) -

December 31, 2022 - Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Aromas of pyrazine, blackcurrant with a red currant underpin, sweet spice, cedar, wet earth, Autumn leaves over slight farmyard, touch of mushroom and savoury umami notes; a forward but not unpleasing nose. Medium plus intensity acidity, slight unripe blackcurrant, herbaceous notes, a little cedar, tannins are drying, chewy, fruit persists but dries out a little on the finish and ends up a little leathery. The palate is a little out of whack but this is okay.

April 23, 2022 - Profound bouquet with layers black fruits and blueberries, leather, gravel, sweet licorice, clove and aniseed. The palate is filled with mineral, spice box and savoury sausage. Fresh with good depth. Full-bodied. Good and elegant finish. Ready to drink with 2 hours of decanting. A wine that will continue to age for the next 5-8 years.

December 14, 2021 - Coravin fun - Lascombes & Belgrave (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Cedar, biscuit, touches of tomato leaf, wild blackcurrant, again a slight hint of acetone, toasted oak and sweet spice. With time in the glass a slightly meaty note joins the aromas accompanied by a little liqourice. In the mouth it's juicy, savoury and meaty. The tannins are more supporting here; though still quite drying and floury textured. Alcohol warmth is present but non intrusive, fruit a little muted. long. hmm

April 24, 2021 - Mrs L's birthday dinner at home with usual suspects ((At home)): 2008 was the year Mrs L and I got married (and the financial system began melting down) so it's always nice to come across a bottle from that year. Magnum too. It is made in a very globalized millennial style, but still has its roots firmly planted in Margaux: the unique floral & hot pavement ("tar & lilies") signature in the nose gives it away. Quite full bodied but not heavy, and packed with dark fruit and toasty oak, this wine has depth and length to evolve for another decade. Thanks Keith!
