April 3, 2020 - Kinda fat clumsy. Not an exciting wine. Round and flabby

August 17, 2019 - Saturday at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is wide open and forward with red apples, pears, custard, yellow flowers, orchard fruits, saline, and flint notes. This is an upfront quality to the nose with good depth and balance.

Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with crisp, medium+ acidity. There is good depth with a forward take to the tones of red apples, pears, custard, saline, orchard fruits, and yellow flowers.

Overall: This was drinking extremely well and balanced with the vintage in mind. It's at its peak right now and I have a hard time seeing how it gets better.

August 17, 2019 - Saturday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): No premox, no reduction, no overripeness. To be sure, this is a pretty fat bottle of Chablis, and there's a little bit of oiliness here, but at the same time, you do get the citrus and limestone. The finish has some bitterness, which is the big strike against this, but there's no denying the raw power and grand cru complexity on this bottle.

November 20, 2017 - Long birthday lunch at Noble Rot (Noble Rot, Wellington, NZ): Served blind I did not initially pick this wine as a Chardonnay, let alone as a Chablis. It matched up well the Chave beside it. On the nose, lemons, blanched almonds, pears, pineapple juice and only a hint of chalky minerality. A rich, powerful and full palate. 'A lot of phenolics', said John. 'You can feel the heat and taste the lower acidity', agreed Andrew. Satiny texture. Appropriately oxidised. Not showing a lot of Chablis typicity but an enjoyable, quality Chardonnay nonetheless. Probably for drinking in the next few years, ideally.

July 12, 2017 - Butter yellow to light gold color; still very much alive, though lean and almost "skunky" on nose; surprisingly vibrant and showing perfect level of maturity. Proved a great match for oysters. Didn't die quickly in the glass either (except for being happily consumed by a few wine buds who didn't come close to guessing what it was).
