Community Tasting Notes 46

December 23, 2023 - Decanted for two hours. Dark garnet colour. Red fruit, red cherry, light chocolate, coffee, tobacco, herbal notes, pastille, and spices, with medium-plus acidity, fine, firm, dry tannin, and very good length. Restrained, and somewhat disjointed in its combination of crunchy red fruit, high pitched acidity, and dusty tannin at first, but started to open up slowly after two hours in the decanter and kept improving as time passed. Seems to have good structure, concentration and intensity, it just is difficult to enjoy this wine at this surprisingly youthful stage. I suggest allowing the wine more time in the cellar, and to only start drinking from 2028. 92(+)(?)

November 8, 2023 - Noticeable alcohol on the nose, muting pure cherry fruit, leather, a nice pepperiness.
Rich-textured, confit fruit on the palate.
Nice tannin quality and acidity on the fresh and well-balanced (apart from a bit of alcoholic heat) finish.
Bit of a shame about the alcohol on this showing because the fruit quality, purity and balance behind is really lovely.
Might chill the next bottle (although this came straight out if he cellar at 12°)

August 27, 2023 - Completely different than my last bottle, albeit decanted this time around. Just beginning it’s plateau of maturity with lucious but not over ripe red fruit, enough acid and loads of tannins. Reminds me a lot of 2007 Beaucastel. Medium bodied, long finish. Not super complex but complete.

January 14, 2023 - Very ripe fruit and still so much tannin its hard to drink. I would hold this until at least 2030. Good stuff underneath but its inaccessible now.

March 31, 2022 - Unexpectedly tannic - was not expecting it to be so rough. Even after being open 1-2 hrs
