July 25, 2021 - An improvement from a recent previous bottle. Showed nice fruit (cherry and berry) and fresh acidity right upon opening. Low tannic structure.

May 30, 2021 - Seemed tired upon opening but surprisingly improved with air. However, no need to hold this for any longer.

December 26, 2011 - Tasted vs the 2006 discovered in the cellar and found th 2006 materially softer, better balanced, more finished. Save a bottle or two for a couple of years and experiment.

December 22, 2011 - Did not like as well as first bottle a couple of years ago. Still has nice Barbera softness, but losing depth and a bit overripe tasting. I remember the previous bottle being good with lasagna. But this time not so much.

October 15, 2011 - Great value -- and a really nice wine -- great with bolognese sauce on pasta. Medium body, very smooth, well-integrated tannins. Flavors of cherry, blueberry and vanilla.

October 15, 2011 - Consistent with prior reviews - Dark ruby color. Nose offers leather, cherries, herbs and oak. On the palate I get baked tart cherries, cassis, smoke, and vanilla. Smooth, medium bodied with well integrated tannins, racy acidity, and a lingering finish. A steal at $7!

September 18, 2011 - A deep garnet wine with a medium body. Bursting with dark fruits on the nose at this stage, accompanied with a nice earthiness. Tastes of blackberry and blueberry supported with a generous dose of acidity keep the Fonatanafredda Briccotondo Barbera lively and racy. The texture is soft, but otherwise not impressive. The finish continues with blackberry, blueberry and generous acidity picking up an oak note as it fades away on an average finish.
