Community Tasting Notes 13

April 23, 2014 - Really drinking well now with lively red fruit, underbrush, and black pepper. Undertones of anise, leather, and cedar. Very nice mid pallet with a medium length finish. Should go a few more years, although this is my last.

January 23, 2014 - similar to previous notes, possibly more fruit that noted earlier.

October 30, 2013 - Big and round with some bitter tannins in the middle. Black fruit with earthy tones and notes of cedar and tobacco. Long finish.

August 9, 2013 - Oak, light cigarbox and blackfruit on the nose. Wine is a little unbalanced at first but after about one and a half hours, improves noticeably. Medium bodied, good blackfruit up front. Mainly black cherry and a light cranberry. Decent cigarbox notes on the finish. Wine is generally smooth and round, but just not particularly complex. Good everyday wine and a very good value.

May 19, 2011 - A dusty sour cherry nose, that leads to a dark red fruit palate. There is a touch of bitter tannin in this wine that holds it back from really being special. The fruit is tasty in an Ocean Spray kinda way. The finish is lengthy but a bit harsh.

(Desert Wind Winery Ruah Wahluke Slope) Dusty earth along with pepper, red fruit and mocha aromas. Round and generous on the palate with a heaping of red fruit. A bit tart at times, especially on the back end. The Cabernet Franc comes through more than you would expect given the percentage. 48% Merlot, 36% Cabernet, 16% Cabernet Franc (Desert Wind Vineyard).Aged in French and American oak. Recommend an additional 3-6 months of age. 14.5% alcohol. 6,875 cases produced. Recommended.
