April 28, 2023 - Popped, poured, consumed over next 60 minutes. Wonderful fragrance, which I kept sniffing for pure enjoyment and the show continued on the palate. This performed brilliantly from the first sip and still developed in the glass. Fabulous complexity and balance, but the real magic is how it pulls off the feat of amplitude without weight.

December 25, 2022 - Excellent. Lots of upfront fruit, well blended tannins. Everyone enjoyed. Wish I had more.

November 4, 2022 - This wine was rich, balanced wine with beautiful dark fruit, finesse and smoothness, mouth coating (in the very best sense) and a long, lovely finish. It was enjoyed by everyone.

December 25, 2020 - Very similar to the notes from our last bottle of this 6 years ago. Decanted 90 min. Big, mouthfilling, full of flavor, no sign of fading at all. Great with duck pappardelle for christmas dinner. The finish was short compared to an excellent bottle of brunello we had the night before, but otherwise terrific. No rush to drink our remaining bottles.

November 17, 2019 - 3 hour decant- very fruit forward but surprisingly well balanced. For most I’m guessing this is in its prime but Id like to wait another decade before trying again.

September 21, 2019 - Wow. Just wow. On the occasions I've had Thackery Orion in the past, always thought it a really good bottle of wine. This was a step beyond that....it had on of those noses you could inhale all night. The tannins well integrated, but still possessing adequate structure. Dark fruits, with some savory elements. It sometimes tasted like syrah, sometimes like Petite syrah, and sometimes something entirely different. Long finish.

September 9, 2019 - Stunning old vine field blend that just kills it. Dark as night in the middle of Kansas and yet supple and earthy with spice and pepper on the finish. Just a beauty and sadly my last bottle.

November 22, 2018 - Sean Thackrey is a lesser well known Thomas Rivers Brown for me. His wines are always good, no matter the price point, and he seems to derive great flavor out of whatever grape he is working with. No different here, although this wine was different from others I have had, as it was a step up in terms of balance, refinement, and focus. Lots of earthy vegetables, mushrooms, peppers, black tea, herbs, and minerals. This wine will probably live another decade or so, but don't feel bad about cracking it open now, it was fully ready to go after an hour in the decanter.

June 15, 2016 - This wine needs time to develop once corked. We decanted for an hour. What a wine. Classic Thackrey. Full and opulent, a seamless effort.

July 4, 2015 - Really great. Super rich and soft mouthfeel with explosion of blackberry and nice spice on the finish. Still very young but what a future this wine has.
