September 4, 2021 - Denancted for 30. A small amount of sediment. Nose of red cherry, light tobacco, licorice. Surprised at how much fruit is still present. Silky smooth tannins. This wine is amazing, but could easily go another 5+ in this condition. Cork was a little brittle, but bottle and wine condition was excellent.
May 3, 2021 - Tasted blind. Lovely nose with a mix of dark and red fruit, licorice, dark cherries, and violets. Medium acidity with quite resolved tannins, velvety mouthfeel, again red and dark cherries, and some sweeter fruit notes towards the back of the palate. Nice finish. Drinking very well right now and very interesting to try it!
October 31, 2020 - Bottle in great shape with perfect cork. Nice freshness and acidity, with beautiful complex red and black fruit. Light on its feet but with plenty of depth of flavor. Tannins are very fine and perfectly integrated. Signature Eisele complexity with olives, mushrooms and prunes.
August 9, 2020 - Decanted and poured. Color has dark pink and orange-y tints, yellow edges. Nose is earthy and a bit smoky, old world vibe. Mouth feel is very dry, palate is pencil lead, wood, smoke, some secondary strawberry, surprising absence of fruit. Really highlights the importance of vintage, as the 1999 and 2008 vintages are two of my favorite bottles, and this one is underwhelming.
April 21, 2020 - Another venison stew, and another perfectly matched mature Cab. Still have snow in the mountains so it all seems appropriate. Lovely bottle and drinking just right.
April 4, 2020 - Drank this with a venison stew last night. Another delicious mature cab- deep in color with no sign of aging, soft and well rounded but still balanced. It was certainly time, and we enjoyed every drop.
November 17, 2019 - beautiful mature cab
August 2, 2019 - Consistent. Last pour was the best. All dark fruit. Finish that’ll haunt your dreams
July 4, 2019 - Mature Cali Cab with black cherry, black raspberry, tea and grilled herbs. Did well with grilled rib eyes. Soft tannins, generous nose, great integration of flavors.
July 4, 2019 - At peak. Dark blue fruit, less dusty than the Ch. Margaux. Love it. Blackberry
