March 21, 2021 - Amazing. Perfect cork. Cedar tobacco, red fruit beautiful acidity, all in perfect balance. This wine has really beautiful aged, probably also thanks to the vintage.

February 26, 2021 - Disgusting looking cork that was both soaked through AND disintegrated (rare Durand fail) Mid shoulder fill gave us low expectations for this bottle. Nose was liquid smoke and leather . On the palate the fruit was very subdued. But through the two hours we drank it, many complex aromas and arose, mostly asian spice, etc. Fortunately the people I poured it for are fans of old wines past their prime. If not, it wouldn't have gone well.

January 30, 2021 - The fill was mid-shoulder, and the cork was soaked through to the top. Medium-pale garnet core, with significant bricking. Notes of dried rose petal, briar patch, tobacco; hints of black truffle and plum. Medium bodied, still rich and round, with good depth and a long finish. More advanced than a bottle tasted a year ago; the ullage wasn’t as good with this one, and I imagine it would have been better 5 years ago.

January 23, 2021 - level lowermost neck, perfect long supple soaked cork, colour still remarkable for age, almost opaque black-cherry red with only slight brown tinge at rim, lovely rich, warm, leathery nose with great class and complexity, mmm!, palate with fine, rich, intense flavour, just fills the mouth, the elegance, complexity and smoothness of age but still fresh and lively, long finish and aftertaste just lingers, fine wine at its peak (12% alc. in a very warm, great year! Ah, the good old days)

December 5, 2020 - Good provenance bottle from Fine Wines International. Opened one hour before dinner. No need to decant with sieve as got cork completely out albeit gingerly in three pieces. Balanced, elegant. Tannins resolved and no pronounced acidity. Ditto the other 2020 reviews. Fine old wine, fit for Le Rois.

(Branaire-Ducru) Just perfect. Glorious nose of tobacco, cassis, tar, leather, red berries. Classic St. Julien. Amazingly sweet cassis fruit on the palate with soft, powdery tannins and a long finish. Perfectly mature. Drink up.
