May 10, 2020 - 20 years old and excellent
August 28, 2014 - Still holding together well.
April 23, 2014 - From a Magnum, needed some time to open up. A little too much candied fruit on the palate for my liking, but most enjoyed it with the BBQ.
November 23, 2012 - Initial musty and earthy nose, complexity developed very nicely after two hours of breathing. Excellent silky mouth feel. Nice color and fullness, definitely a top-notch vintage. Highly recommended.
January 23, 2011 - Stunning; this is drinking beautifully and showed no signs of being on its way out as some have experienced. Day two drinking just as well! Smooth, deep, rich; an excellent bottle of wine, wish I had more.
December 25, 2009 - One of the wines for Christmas Day dinner --grilled filet tenderloin. Delicious, and the wne was pretty nice too
September 7, 2009 - I think this was a bit past its prime in a slightly flat, musty kind of way but showed nice black cherry and red fruit flavors with leather, pepper, graphite, and earth. I've never had a Super Tuscan before, much less a bottle-aged California version of one from an auction-bought Magnum. This worked well with a tomato based pasta dish.
March 29, 2009 - It has been a year since tasting this vintage. My memory, it was better last year. This blend is usually one of my favorites. I will try another of the 2000 in the near future as I expected it would have been better this year than last. The wine was not at all oxidized but a bit flat with low levels of fruit coming through at the finish. It paired well with duck and rustic mushroom sauce. Despite this bottle, Luna does a fabulous job with Italian varietals and blended wines.
December 24, 2008 - Rich, sweet, delicious mixed berry, black cherry fruit with slight leather and graphite, good structure and ample tannins, three different grape groupings, i.e. syrah, sangiovesse, and cabernet noted, super tuscan style
January 26, 2008 - Nose of tart cherry and assorted dark berries. Smooth, deep and lengthy mouthfeel. Very good and a perfect match at Care Amico in Portland w/a filet. The team at Luna is really making some first rate Italian style wines. This Sangiovese blend is wonderful, and would go nicely w/any pasta & red sauce, grilled beef, buffalo or other dark meats. Monster bottle, literally...this bottle weighed 4 lbs! I guess they wanted you to know, it is the real deal, and it is. A great wine in a challenging vintage.
