December 16, 2018 - Lots of herbal aromas with smooth, cherry and blackberry flavors, integrated tannins and long finish. Hint of green olives and maybe some anise? Excellent wine with a few years left before optimum drinking. Decanted for an hour but it continued to evolve.

February 26, 2017 - This is a giant of a wine but far from ready. Tight aromas and fruit.

October 11, 2015 - A very complex and perfumed nose but the taste is still bit tannic and tight. Went well with osso bucco.

August 3, 2015 - A dark garnet color, nicely transparent and quite pale on the edges. A complex, constantly changing nose with a mixture of ripe red cherry and prune, along with notes of dried herbs, iron and some tar. Some granite perhaps also, along with a medicinal hint? Whenever I feel like I have the nose figured out it seems to show something new. On the palate medium bodied by concentration yet massively structured. At first feels almost Burgundian in its liveliness but then the very Barolo-esque tannins emerge and grab a hold of the palate like no Pinot Noir has ever done. Very firm and poised; not unfriendly but not very generous either. Despite the tannic grip the fruit never disappears, although some drying is evident. Quite an elegant, well made Aglianico and good value also as the wines of this producer tend to be. I would say that this needs 5 more years in the cellar.

(Mastroberardino Taurasi Radici) Gorgeous aromas of bitter chocolate, allspice, nutmeg, black cherry, and black pepper appear on the nose. This medium-to-full-bodied wine demonstrates beautiful acidity and youthful, balanced tannins. Elegantly styled along traditional lines. Campania: Ancient Grapes, Modern Wines
