September 10, 2022 - I read other notes before opening and decided to decant, which turned out to be a great call. Despite being served at cellar temperature, there was still some heat off the nose for a good hour. Color is still bright red with no bricking, a bit surprising. The nose evolved a lot over the course of the evening. At first, it was all primary, red fruits, blueberry, licorice. After a couple of hours though, the tannins softened a bit and secondary aromas of truffle and tobacco nicely blended with the still-present ripe fruit. Really nice complexity here. Drinking well now but still has some life judging by evolution I saw. Definitely decant.

March 23, 2022 - Dark ruby color - this was a lovely bottle of this Barolo. Classic Barolo aromas and flavors but in a rather tight presentation. Reco a longer decant or waiting a bit longer on this one.

October 10, 2020 - Consumed over 2 days (vacuvined), note from day 2. Nose: Medium-plus intensity, black cherry, tar, roses, Asian spice, and forest floor - wonderful. Palate: Medium bodied, sour cherry and spice attack, earth and leather notes appear mid-palate, big tannins still present in this 15 year old Barolo, finishes long dominated by sour cherry, spice and earth. Drinking nicely now but will likely improve over the next 3-5 years and drink well for another 10-15 years (or more).

April 2, 2020 - Some volatile acidity on nose with PnP. I liked this better with 12 hour decant, for some crisp sour cherry on palate, drying tannins, minerals. After 24 hours in decanter, even better. I'll wait 5+ years before opening another bottle. Should age very well for another 5-10 years.

March 28, 2020 - smoothest lightest Barolo we've had in some time. First taste was super light, very acidic with a hint of raspberries. After an hour it gained weight. More robust. Raspberries, a hint of dark cherries and strawberries. Getting the slightest hint of tar finally. Minerality is definitely there in the background. A hint of prunes and plums. No mahogany nor cedar at all though. Not the most quintessential Barolo. In 2015 we had this wine and I reviewed it which you can see here. In that review I said I was a bit disappointed but that I predicted that in 2020 it will be great. One of the few times I have been right!! it will be great for at least another 5 years.

September 28, 2019 - A rather delicate mature Barolo. Nose is expressive from the first minute - rose petal, raspberry, red cherry, fennel (or licorice?). Palate: well integrated tannins, light-ish structure. Long finish. Works really well - nothing out of line. Drinks perfectly now.

February 7, 2019 - Youthful with black cherry, raisins, rust, roses, not much tar but noticeably nebbiolo, lots of minerality, tannins got more puckery toward the end of the bottle. Good potential for more than the 2024 shown below; needs more time. Next bottle: 2023.

December 31, 2018 - Pop and pour, consumed over 5 hours. Nose: Medium-plus expressiveness, rusty metal, black cherry and tar. Palate: Medium bodied, tart red fruit attack - cranberry and black cherry, puckering tannins, tight through the mid-palate, minerals, dark red and blue fruit dominate the back-end. Finish: Medium length, 30-45 seconds, showing tart red fruit and minerals. Still youthful, 3-5 years to peak, but lacks stuffing to be truly exceptional.

July 23, 2017 - I wouldn't rush to drink this. It certainly needs decanting. Initially unimpressive, it evolved into a Barolo with persistence and length. It will never be great; it is overly tannic, raising a question mark on how it will ultimately evolve. But it is good enough.

    May 7, 2016 - Brief note.
This wine sported a great nose.
Complex, deep and very nice, with signs of early maturity.
Oak spices, barnyard/stable, leather, herbs, cherries, tar, orange peel, roses and violets.
Palate with cherries, licorice, good acidity and fine balance.
Creamy fruit and fine tannins, good lenght.
    I liked this allot tonight.
    (91 – 93+)
