June 11, 2018 - This was in a great place. It was the killer wine of the evening.
October 17, 2015 - Even after all the time it was still so good. Wish I had more....
April 28, 2015 - Still going strong. Tannins very smooth at this time, great red and dark berry fruit flavors. Very nice finish. Was even better day two.
Glad I have another bottle. Screwcap top.
December 14, 2013 - Tepid and lacking in character for me. Some red fruit notes and a little spice in the finish. Lacked balance.
April 13, 2013 - Like a very nicely structured CdR. Well balanced and quite nice.
December 8, 2012 - Great to the last bottle.
March 7, 2012 - Drinkable but nothing special. Seemed to be well on it's way out. Not much complexity on the nose or palate. Waited too long to drink this one.
January 29, 2012 - Still loving this stuff. Had it on the same night with the Liverno Chianti. My wife liked them both equally and rated based on her taste buds. To me there was no contest...the Syrah was superior.
Different strokes and all that...although it's important that we rate a wine for the varietal it is and not compared to all wines. When I see Zins rated as if they were cabs it makes me want to forget ratings altogether.
November 28, 2011 - This was the poorest bottle in a 5 bottle blind tasting. Bottle seemed to be in good shape. Light plum in color. Some vanilla and cedar notes on the nose. Soft on the palate with a weak cedar and earthiness. Relatively dry with a moderate finish. There is a bitterness and sour acidic presence that seemed to appear and disappear. Not a corked taste, just something that threw off the balance for us.
November 27, 2011 - Drinking perfectly now as compared to even a year ago! Hoping future vintages provide the same value.
