Community Tasting Notes 10

December 14, 2019 - Remains v decent. Quite a sweet Kirsch entry but the wilder Mourvedre elements keep it real. Satisfying.

June 29, 2019 - Tasty. Generous slice of blueberry Shiraz fruit, but with significant meaty edge from the blend, especially the mataro. Good sipping after food, but probably slightly better with.

June 3, 2018 - No formal note as at a BBQ, but this was pretty classy. Wore it's 14.5%abv very well. Nicely toned with nicely balanced acidity and very polished and silky structure.

June 1, 2015 - (parents' day at Ah-Yat) Dark floral nose, gamey leather, mulchy wet forest floor. Dark berries and savoury small-goods. Rich plums, 5-spice and licorice, which paired nicely w our duck and pork dishes. Leather, black earth, coconut and pandan, finished with gentle velvet tannins. Yum! Survived shipping fr Syd to Sg.

May 2, 2014 - The more wines I try from Spinifex the more they impress. Over time they are quietly moving into an Icon of the Barossa, of particular note is the ability for the wines across the range to be a structured representation of quality Barossa fruit without relying on or showing the impact of high alcohols.

The 2007 Esprit is a blend of Mataro, Grenache, Shiraz and Cinsault, it is starting to show it's age giving a slightly dull red colour, the nose is showing some secondary development with black fruits finding their place alongside old leather and a touch of smokey oak.

The palate is textural and layered with blackberry and plum set against fine tannins. Oak is secondary, but frames and integrates the considerable fruit on the long enjoyable finish. This wine is in a great place right now and will hold for a few more years.
