December 2, 2018 - Retains a degree of apricotty plumpness and some sticking-plaster botrytis flavour to mix with the intense barley-sugar taste that old Sauternes comes to. Some oakiness evident and a powerful acidity. Much prefer this to the 1990s, which never seemed to come into balance. I drank/gave away my 1990s, and keep the 89's to drink myself. Though not a patch on Climens, etc.

November 28, 2018 - Jordan's Fine Wine Dinner (Boka - Chicago IL): Good weight and length with chewy apricot and good botrytis, but frankly I expected more nuance and complexity.

November 18, 2018 - A really good wine and all that you could ask at 20 years. Honey, citrus, lemon, nice acidity and a long finish. But was really upstaged by the
1998 Château Suduiraut. Just an entirely different level of wine.

November 10, 2018 - Clear med golden yellow in color. Orange blossom, lemon curd on nose and palate. Nice acidity to balance the sweetness of wine. A great producer and a great wine

(Château Rieussec) Light medium apricot color; apple, apple brandy, apricot, tangerine, pear, apricot strudel nose; tasty, baked orange, apricot, apricot honey, tart orange, creme brulee palate with good acidity, needs 3-5 years yet; long finish

(Chateau Rieussec (Sauternes)) An appealing colour although not the most concentrated of golden hues here. The nose has an evolved botrytis character which holds some promise, and on the palate it has more of this apricot-tinged sweetness, although I sense it is a little drier than I expected. There is a nice presence of acidity but it is not the most forthright, giving it a rather soft feel. Good flavour though, and a nicely tangible substance on the palate, with a light grip. Plenty of presence and style, but just a rather soft Sauternes feel to it, especially lined up against Huet's Cuvée Constance in the same vintage. And yet there is probably more evolution to come in terms of flavour and aroma here.
