August 5, 2023 - After oxidized bottle on 8/2 this was delightful.

August 2, 2023 - Had become a nice, oxidized Oloroso. Opened another 3 days later, still great.

June 29, 2023 - Served at a dinner with friends, paired with grilled filets. Incredibly sumptuous aromas lead to an amazingly smooth wine on the palate. Wonderful example of a well-made Napa cab at 20.
Opened and poured into a decanter about 75 minutes before serving. Not a speck of sediment.

October 16, 2022 - Gorgeous scarlet color with a light rust edge. White oak, boysenberry, blackberry, eucalyptus and black currant. Very hedonistic mouthfeel and flavors dance around the palate. Sweet, dark fruits with a very structured backbone. The wine seems to have life ahead and is quite enjoyable right now.

p.s. snake river ribeye filets with kapusta and Caesar salad.

July 15, 2022 - Surprising in a good way! This bottle based on my previous notes is actually improving with time. Not bad for a "second wine". Black currants, black cherries, blackberries, blueberries, licorice, and leather in the nose. Similar rich, concentrated flavors with a hint of chocolate. Medium to full bodied with nice complexity and acidity, wonderful balance, and a very smooth long finish. The 2003 Matriarch is drinking very well right now. I only wish it wasn't my last bottle.
