November 20, 2015 - Black color & fruits throughout, with a touch of dried florals & pepper showing themselves as well. Strong acid backbone & tannins show with air; will wait a few years on the next bottle.

November 20, 2015 - Nose: Tue nose is pitched to more black fruits with black cherries, black raspberries, black pepper, violets, and incense.

Taste: Full bodied with medium acidity and chewy tannins. The feel is plush and with California fruit, but there is a cooler sensibility to the feel with black cherries, potpourri, violets, black raspberries, and black pepper.

Overall: This is hitting the spots right now. The tannins clamp down a bit after a couple of hours open. There is a lovely peppery streak to this with expelling balance.

September 4, 2015 - Excellent Syrah, this powerful beast is reminiscent of the Northern Rhone with its vibrant dark fruit that continues throughout the mid-palate and finsihes with intensity that doesn't want to end.

February 7, 2014 - Really beautiful in its purity and sultry aggressiveness. Rock and iron, blackberry, black olive and pepper, combine to create this briery, chewy and dense Syrah, managing to be both delicate and deep, earthy and elegant. Northern-Rhone style. Things are focused here and the wine lacks that fat quality so many warm-weather syrahs exhibit.

September 6, 2013 - Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Inky and extracted black core with thin brilliant purple rim; very fruity nose, jammy blueberry and purple fruit with smoke and black pepper in the background, almost minerality in the nose; dark and dense on the palate, taut, spicy, tart berry fruit and good acid on the finish, good balance; I happily drank almost all of this bottle myself; I like that it hints at N. Rhone but firmly planted in the New World; alcohol is in check but I'd recommend serving with a slight chill.
