Community Tasting Notes 11

December 16, 2016 - Red to brick red color. Clean aromas of red berries, forest floor and tar, like in a nebbiolo. No volatile notes here, like in a bottle I tasted two years ago. Pure, focused, fruity and vivid in the mouth. Still a bit restrained, but has evolved nicely the last couple of years. Sadly, it was the last bottle. This wine, or should I say vintage, will last and last. And now, lastly, it seems to show some nice development. Lovely and very impressive for a village wine of this age.

October 30, 2015 - Deep brick red. Still vital quite dark fruitiness; plums bordering on prunes. Decaying forest floor, bit of soy, anise and nicely integrated casky spice. Smooth palate-entry, medium minus weight and a rustic, but lingering finish. At ideal maturity now; in my opinion the current concentration will probably not stand up to further storage. It certainly Pinots, but time to drink up within the nearest future.

April 25, 2014 - Fresh purple red color. Rather muted on the nose, with dark cool fruit and earthy and woody notes in the finish. Some volatile acidity. In the mouth, light and tart with good fruit. The color and freshness suggests that the wine needs even more time, and hopefully blossoms up in a couple of years. Would be interresting to hear opinions on this.

June 3, 2012 - Superb! Autumnal and complex. Still going strong - shame it was my last bottle!

February 9, 2010 - Gevrey Chambertin Blind Tasting: Blind
Very barnyardy, cheese rind nose but fruit hidden in the background. Drying finish with some metallic notes.
Recognized the Esmonin right away as I previously had it and, compared to the 97, it's always been a disappointment.
