August 25, 2023 - Two friends sharing three bottles of wine - Palmetto Bluff (Hilton Head Island - Charlie's Coastal Bistro): Youthful yet incredibly complex nose displaying super concentrated perfectly ripe black fruit, blackberry, blackberry concentrate, rose, lavender, espresso, cinnamon, liquid smoke, tea and mineral. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of perfectly ripe black fruit, rich and sweet but also showing perfect balance and detail, perfect amount of acidity, and mineral, and a seamless long concentrated black fruit driven floral finish with exotic spices at the end. This is truly enjoyable with ample fruit but can easily improve for a few more decades.

94++ pts

March 26, 2023 - Burgundy Bachelor Party: So dark, dense, and rich but with the epic precision that Rousseau Chambertin seems to demonstrate more consistently than any other wine. There's no crime in drinking it now, save for the fact this will clearly metamorphosize into something even greater with time.

December 16, 2022 - Lovely but quite young. Even so, this showed better balance than 02 Beze today. Give this another decade and should be a showstopper.

November 26, 2021 - Opened at Otto e Mezzo in Hong Kong. P&P, though we waited for it to open in the Zalto.

This was better than my expectations, given how Rousseaus tend to need age to open up fully. This was incredibly fragrant and approachable, despite having clear backbone and a power that was lurking behind the scenes. Honestly, an incredible treat. Likely to improve with a bit more time - I'd say give this another 5 years to see how it develops, as I think the fruit may loosen up a little more and be even more expressive.

Thanks K for sharing this with us, I hope to enjoy this again soon.

November 5, 2021 - powerhouse of a vintage and still especially forceful even after a decade+. Just gobs of chunk intense dark fruit. Initially showed a fair touch of wood but after a couple hours of air it dissipated. Just memorizing how much is stuffed into the bottle, like a turkey about to burst open. Would have been far more accessible with a long decant but man that fruit starts to get like silk with that classic rousseau profile by the end of the night, can't do anything but whisper sweet nothings to it.

October 30, 2021 - Nose of alcohol and strawberries. Massive palate, at this stage simply no finesse. Blind, more akin to a Chateauneuf than a Burgundy.
Just waaaay too big and clunky at this stage, it needs at least 10, preferably 20, years in a cool cellar.
Score based on pedigree, as it wasn't at that 93 point level tonight.

August 16, 2021 - This wine needed air. Initially it's a bit muted and clunky almost. Revisiting 2 hours in and the wine unfurls to show intense dark berry fruit, sous bois, the dense oak has mellowed and gained some sweetness. Balanced acidity, and overall it's a beauty.
