September 17, 2018 - Fully mature, the wine combines truffle and earthy nuances with smoky dark fruits. The wine shows some strict characteristics in the tannins, so you might want to give it an hour of air, and pop your corks over the next few years. Round, fat, juicy, sweet, ripe, dark red fruits, cocoa, anise, smoke and plums are made even better with the lushly textured mouth feel, silky tannins and sweet, ripe, polished fruits in the finish.

January 5, 2018 - Easy drinking. Perfectly fine.

April 24, 2017 - Delicious and ready to drink, though perhaps better in a year, when the pretty powerful tannins have softened a bit more. Simple but authentic claret.

October 8, 2016 - Tasted blind. Elegant nose of herbs, licorice, minerals, blackberry, leather, and oak. Round, fleshy mouthfeel. Ripe but not overly so. Would be ponderous but for the sparkling minerality. Tannins are strong but suitable for drinking now. Drink or hold. Rating: 91

Guess the wine. I will go with Bordeaux, right bank, 8 years old. Among the 18 wines in the blind tasting set, the obvious possibility is 2008 Chateau Faugeres.

Non-blind p.s.: Proud to get this one right. This wine doesn't have much wow factor, but it will please pretty much anyone.

May 16, 2015 - Bordeaux Confidential USA, nose of dark fruit, plum, cigar box, minerals, and mocha, more of the same on the palate, big body, almost elegant, tasty, long, lovely finish.
