December 5, 2023 - Half bottle, but very dark for the age.

    Deep brown colour.

Pronounced aromas of botrytis, lemon peel, dried apricot, orange peel, marmelade, lemon zest, honey comb, hay, nutmeg, roasted hazelnuts, peach cobbler, beeswax, caramel, dried flowers.

    Pronounced palate.

Full body, medium (+) acidity, long finish.

November 20, 2023 - From 375. Very dark amber in the glass. Hazelnut, honey and saffron woven around a core of citrus peel and marmalade. A touch of latex. A burst of toasted caramel on the full bodied, waxy palate. Long nutty finish. Drink now or hold.

    WSET Notes:

    Deep amber.

Pronounced on the nose with marmalade, hazelnut, citrus peel, latex, saffron, raisin, honey, dark caramel. Fully developed.

Pronounced and sweet on the palate with toasted caramel coming through. Full body, high acidity, medium alcohol, long finish.

Can drink now but has potential for aging.

May 6, 2023 - Relatively dark for its age, and relatively heavy-going. A real charge of botrytis, and plenty of honeyed, caramel sweetness, but I'd have liked more fruit or, at least, more freshness and energy. Not a defective bottle, and we enjoyed drinking it, but not a great one.

July 21, 2022 - Sea, Feather and Land (New Jersey): The coup de gras to our decadent evening. From 375ml bottle from Shane's cellar, served with an apricot and mango tart it was spot on. The wine was a dark yellow gold color. The nose screamed grilled apricots. Palate was lightly smokey with apricot and caramel. Very long on the finish. Wonderfully balanced but seemed a little more “advanced” in its development than the bottle last year.

June 9, 2022 - Boy's Long Lunch with Greg (Otto Y Mezzo, Alexander House, Landmark, Central, Hong Kong): From 75cl. Not decanted. Lovely brightly jewelled copper gold colour. Nose is a nice big blast of Botrytis, dry underlying manuka honey, slightly burnished hammered copper. Palate is sumptuous and dry honeyed. Very fresh. You can't not like this. Not sure where it will go in the future but I sense it is at best now and for another 10+ years at this level.
