June 16, 2021 - This was given as a parting gift at the Poetry Inn.
The wine had thrown a ton of goopy sediment, so we carefully poured to see if it was OTH or not.
Smelled like a bowl full of black and blue macerated fruits, with some mocha and tar in the upper register. So far, so good.
On the palate, the wine was full in body, chewy, and full of flavor. Dark cherries, dark chocolate, and anise. Not alot of complexity, but simple fruity deliciousness abounds. A bit fat on the medium-length finish, lacking some acidity (to be expected in a 15 yr old, 14.6% abv Napa Cab).
Overall, held up as good as can be expected. Drink up.
November 21, 2013 - Nice but not as interesting as many Lede cabs. Flavors a bit muted. More of a food wine as acidity and structure are still dominant. Typical Lede spices that I like. Long finish.
April 22, 2013 - Always good, would drink more if I had it.
December 26, 2012 - Good, but could be better. THe fruit tasted a bit cooked. It tasted like the grapes were over-ripe when picked. A bit of a disappointment for a $60 wine.
December 11, 2012 - Waited 1 year since I drank the last one. Last year big tannins. This year tannins softer. Good all around balance and structure. Drinking well. 10 second finish.
April 15, 2012 - Decanted 2 hours, but probably needed 3 or more. Didn't open up until the second glass. graphite, blueberry, some cedar and chocolate.
January 14, 2012 - Consistent tastes of minerals and rock, but plenty of luscious fruit.
June 14, 2011 - Dark color with notes of cedar and tobacco on the nose. Nice mountain fruit and minerals. Stoney finish that tuns a little tart, but overall very good.
May 7, 2011 - Greatly evolved while in the glass. Extra dark volcanic rock up front, not very approachable. Opened up after 20 min in the glass with brighter fruit under mineral backdrop. Must decant 1st on the next bottle.
February 22, 2010 - Nice fruits, smooth, 4+on the Yum scale
