September 10, 2023 - Last bottle for me. Nice balance and flavors. Good weeknight wine.
March 19, 2023 - A little disappointing, but guess I had high expectations. Nice blend, just a little off flavor at finish. Otherwise fine.
January 15, 2023 - Excellent C9dP in a very good place right now.
The bouquet mixes some cherry liquor with plums and dark chocolate as well as some herbs and garrigue.
This full-bodied wine is not really complex, but highly enjoyable at the moment. It should easily holde for another 5-10 years.
December 23, 2022 - This wine feels like it is in a great place. Enjoyed asphalt, tobacco, leather and fruit. Fully integrated tannins with nice finish. Does not show great depth but what it shows is enjoyable. This will not get any better but has the bones to hold for many years.
February 24, 2022 - 55% Syrah, 45% Grenache
Clear, medium ruby, modest fading at rim
Oak dominant with powerful notes of new leather, freshly laid tar and chocolate. There’s an odd earthy / sweaty / manure note.
Structured, substance and heft. Seductive palate with fine grained tannins, perfectly balanced acidity and fully integrated alcohol.
Flavours are long and full with tar, black cherry, strawberry, smoked meat.
Exceptional length.
Drink or hold through 2030.
September 6, 2020 - Maybe these need a lot of air. Was pretty tight. My guess is that this really needed a 2.5 plus hour decant instead of the hour I gave it.
March 16, 2020 - Third bottle over time. Opened and put cork back in and then drank 1/2 hour later. Was a 94 immediately and settled to a 92 for a while. After 2.5 hrs, a sold 93. Beautiful. Reidel CdP glasses
March 16, 2020 - Dat is chateauneuf op zijn best
March 2, 2020 - Mooie op dronk zijnde chateauneuf
October 23, 2019 - 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tasting at Winetasters of Toronto Club (North York Memorial Hall): 2007 Domaine de la Solitude (Lançon Père et Fils) Châteauneuf-du-Pape was clear medium ruby with noticeable amber rim. The bouquet showed ripe figs, prunes and dark cherries with coffee and leather undertones. The mouthfeel was full-bodied, medium-high acidic and spicy. Medium level of mature melting tannin and flavors of dark chocolate and toffee led to a pleasant finish of medium length.
It was rated the fourth out of eight wines in the flight in both the personal rank and the table rank.
The base cuvee composed of 55% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault. 8,500 cases were produced annually.
