August 10, 2010 - Lovely deep ruby red in appearance straight out of the bottle. This was a pop-n-pour, which I would normally not do, but for the incredible price, I decided to throw caution to the wind and hit this one right off the bat. Look, this is a completely serviceable wine that would have benefitted significantly from some self-discipline on my part. Just a couple of hours in the decanter would have elevated this juice to the 90+ point level, but not being a point whore, I am gonna throw all caution to the wind and say that this is definitely a bottle of wine that is worth your time. I think I paid a whopping $12 for this one and I have had inferior wines at twice the price.

There is a barrel of black cherry and smoke in this nicely crafted Sangiovese blend. On the palate, there are soft tannins that are backed by a nice acidity. I can only imagine that some time in decanter would elevate this wine to a level that puts most others in the same price category to shame. It's back to the wine shop to lay in a few bottles of this beauty.

June 4, 2010 - Popped and poured; bad idea. Clearly needed aeration, to the extent that it was hard to judge. Seemed yeasty on the nose, but we got some cassis also. Tannic and hollow on the palate. Have two more, they can wait until 2011 and MUST get lots of air before consumption.

January 20, 2010 - Deep ruby color. Reticent nose of floral powder and smoke with some mocha and sour black cherry. Good acidity on the palate, medium bodied with fine tannins.

January 8, 2010 - Rich, red fruits on the nose. A little ripe, as in overipe for Italy, but fine. 87+

August 27, 2009 - Ripe nose, soft feminine, sweet tannins. A tad simple but a quality drink.
