January 10, 2024 - Subsequent notes on this wine from about 6 years ago. Medium ruby red in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe red fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & mulberries with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes of roses, orange peel, herbal notes of anise & mint, sandalwood, tobacco, leather, minerals, anise & hints of cedar & tar in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe red fruit flavors of cherries, cranberries & strawberries with herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing but at 18 years of age, it is close to or at its peak of development. It should hold here for several more years, but any further development from additional aging will be minimal. Fill was in neck right below capsule; cork was clean & intact. A lovely, aged Barbaresco.

June 5, 2021 - Solid Barbaresco that needs a decant to shine. Spice aromas and pronounced licorice flavors. The cherry fruit is in the background now. Overall it was balanced and very good with food.

October 24, 2020 - Strangely, this paled in comparison to the 2007 Pelissero Pasquale Barbaresco Bricco San Giuliano we had alongside, which 'on paper' is an inferior wine, but it's all about timing in some ways for Nebbiolo in my personal experience and this one should have been aerated for at least 2 hours at this stage - Dark red, with brown hues at the rim, scent of leather, licorice, violets, sour cherry, earth and vanilla, complex on the nose and palate, with excellent length and QPR as always with this wine, so interesting and complex for under $50 (My wife commented as she does, with her price estimate and she felt these 2 wines were $80 bottles), Barbarescos are great wines to show how patient cellaring can be oh so rewarding, thie one has years left for sure (91 Points).

March 25, 2020 - Dense and brooding at first, but opened up with air. Nice berry fruit nose with herbs, florals (roses), some tar. Flavours of cherries, ripe strawberries, and cranberries followed by herbs, orange peel and plums peaking out from under a veil of dusty earthy drying tannins. The tannins seemed to fade a bit with air. The fruit component wasn't overpowering …. just subtle. The finish was minerals with leather, tobacco and spices. Nice overall complexity but just missing some extra oomph. Nice typical Barbaresco profile. Not heavy on the mouthfeel, but the wine had good presence and medium bodied concentration. Medium length to the finish. Wanted more, but still drank a nice wine.
