August 4, 2019 - This was one wine that was opened at the perfect time. Perfect balance of fruit, secondary flavors, smooth tannin and fabulous mouthfeel. Primary notes were of ripe red berries, caramel, bee pollen, tarragon and a hint of tar. Just fabulous on this tasting.

March 5, 2019 - 14.1% ABV. This exceptional Syrah opens up with complex aromatics of smoked meat, green olive, leather, stewed tomato and violets. Medium- to full bodied, very refined and graceful on the palate, with plums, black olives, green pipe tobacco, iron and other minerals all in abundance. Very long on the finish, with gentle grip from the very polished tannin. Yet another staggeringly great Syrah from Cayuse that is now squarely in its drinking window. 95.

December 17, 2018 - Super bottle of wine. Funky, earthy, reductive notes, olive, meat, iron, iodine. Strawberry, black cherry, smokey, roasted meat, lavender.

December 8, 2018 - Deep red. 14.1% ABV. After a couple of hours of air, most of the reduction dissipates, and the 2008 En Cerise Syrah gives off aromas of smoke, black olives, roasted meat and herbs. Medium-bodied in the mouth, loaded with black plums, green peppercorns, iron and very fine tannin. This is a lovely Syrah that drinks well already, but could improve. 93.

November 11, 2018 - Smooth, lots of smoke, herbs, and bacon on night one. Smoother and rounder in night two. Drink or hold.

(Cayuse Syrah En Cerise Vineyard) Dark red violet color; redolent, dried berry, mineral, charcoal, dried lavender, light smoke, roasted plum nose; tasty, elegant, tart roasted plum, mineral, charcoal, tart black fruit, dried berry, Asian spice palate; a little chunky at this point, needs 3-4 years; medium-plus finish

(Cayuse Vineyards Syrah En Cerise Vineyard Walla Walla Valley) Dark in color. An aromatically compelling wine with smoke, ash, mineral, mushroom, crushed stone, umami and other savory notes that make it hard to take the first sip. A textured, fresh feel that pops across the palate. Not full of funk but still classically Cayuse. 100% Syrah. 296 cases produced.

(Cayuse Vineyards En Cerise Vineyard Syrah Barrel Sample Walla Walla Valley) An aromatic powerhouse with a cornucopia of red berries, smoke, violets, and game. One of the meatiest wines I have had from Cayuse. A slight let down in intensity on the very back end of the palate but should fill out with time. 100% Syrah. 14.1% alcohol. To be released in 2010.
