February 26, 2017 - Tired, out of balance......

September 6, 2015 - I don't know what it is about this wine. It doesn't taste like cab franc or anything else for that matter. It is sweet, mouth coating and full of dark berries with a caramel note. Not for everyone but it always hits me right.

November 17, 2014 - I see scores all over the map for this wine and a wide variety of reactions. Interesting.

This was first exposure to Hourglass and the Blueline vineyard. I'm not much of a Cab Franc person, so I couldn't say for sure whether it drinks like that varietal. However, in our flight of wines we experienced this past Saturday that included a 1992 Opus One, it was the WOTF. I loved the variety of spice coming out of the glass, as it reminded me of Gamba's 2010 Old Vine Starr Road Ranch Moratto Vineyard Zinfandel, which is also loaded with spices. The Hourglass Cab Franc had great complexity of fruit, good structure, definable mid-palate and silky smooth finish. Fantastic wine, however it's a shame there seems to be some bottle variation to get this type of inconsistency of experience.

June 9, 2014 - Slow ox for 3-4 hours and the initial glass to initiate the slow ox was the best. This is the 4th '07 that I have had in the last month and the all disappointed me. The rest of the group loved it but I still think '07 will go down as a drink young vintage. I would be surprised if '07 hasn't already hit its peak drinking age.

March 30, 2014 - Violets, chocolate, and blackberries on the nose. The palate is bright and clean despite being medium to full bodied. Raspberries, blueberries and tart acid make for a clean tasting wine that covers the entire mouth. A little clipped finish on this bottle. Delicious wine, if unrecognizable as cab franc.
