Community Tasting Notes 5

June 4, 2017 - Very good traditional McLaren Vale Shiraz. Bold fruit, full mouthfeel, touch of spice and pliant tannins holding it all together with just touch if acidity. Sad we have no more.

October 29, 2016 - A very pleasant bottle indeed. Drank in 2016 (few days before this review), aged wonderfully, no cork degradation or discolouration. Believe it would hold another 10 years without fault.

Slight peppery shiraz aroma, some dark fruit but mostly strawberry nose.

As per the nose lots of strawberry more dark fruits, very soft and smooth with a light oak finish. Light / restrained tannins.

A very pleasant relatively easy drinking wine with nice qualities, not a wine I'd say "wow" to but would be more than happy to drink again.

  • Softie Likes this wine:

October 17, 2013 - Classic South Australian Shiraz. Intense, sweet Blueberry and Blackberry fruit and chocolate on nose and palate. A hint of raspberry - probably reflecting some (or a lot) of use of American oak. Quite intense fruit. Strong but fine tannnins.

No doubting this is a quality example of its genre.

In a good drinking window, but absolutely no sign of having past its peak. Structure intact.

February 25, 2010 - The Shingleback 2005 Estate Shiraz was decanted for 2 hours then served with Grilled pork tenderlions and was outstands, ripe nose of licorice, chocolate, nutmeg and ripe blackberry, with good long lasting well mixed red and black fruit on the palate, good acidity, fine-grained tannins and a lengthy finish. Just an outstanding wine.
