December 8, 2019 - A very decent bottle of semi-aged Cali cab, with a good degree of fruit purity left and almost resolved tannin grippiness. Some amount of secondary flavors peeking around the corner, but it's still mainly about the primary notes. Sadly, the alcohol never integrated to the degree I would've liked.
April 23, 2017 - This 10 years old bottle is still at peak . Dark red, round and complex after 3 hours opening.
January 23, 2017 - Really enjoyed this, especially the first ~90 minutes it was open. After that it clamped up a bit.
On pop & pour, good dark fruit profile with a bit of vanilla & a nice earthy, leather note underneath. All of that comes through on the palate, which has a nice weight to it and shows well-balanced flavors. Enough acid & tannin to really feel complete, and nice length to the finish.
I can see this lasting several longer, wish I had more.
September 18, 2016 - Good but fading. Drink up.
April 15, 2016 - Good but starting to fade, drink up.
December 27, 2015 - at peak . Delicious and well balanced.
November 23, 2015 - I don't think this Emerson Brown Cab 8 years old, is going to get any better. It is my opinion that it is at peak.
November 22, 2014 - Served pop and pour, but over half of the bottle was consumed after the meal on its own. This is a very nice cab and very opulent. 2007 was a good year but I'm still not in love like most are. Honestly, I never would have believed that this was an Oakville wine by what it gave on the palate, as it has more Calistoga and Diamond Mountain traits. Has classic Oakville on the nose. The wine poured a very dark crimson in the glass. Oak, blackberry, and leather on the nose. Initially the wine had almost an aged kind of character in the nose, but that blew off about an hour after opening. Palate is all smoke, new shoe leather, blackberry pie with a hint of sweetness. The mid-palate is vibrant, full bodied, and dries considerably to a finish that is all fruit and very punchy oak tannin. This wine is good, but I kept expecting more and never really got it. I do believe that this wine is in the drinking window, but is not at the top of the hill yet therefore there is still some room for improvement with another year or two of bottle age. I wouldn't expect this one to go from 91 to 95 or anything like that, but this is probably a 92 at full maturation. Completely agree on the 2010-2022 drinking window, with top of the curve around 2016. I was curious about this bottle, but I will hold my other one for a year or two!
September 22, 2013 - Still a bit tight. Decant for at least 30-60 min. Great stuff.
June 7, 2013 - Slight hint of Brett on the nose in the form of band aid. On the palate this comes through with more mature flavors of tobacco and cedar. Underlying fruit still nice has taken a back seat. Drink up if you still have them.
