January 14, 2022 - Juan Gil and El Nido Jumillas 2002-2012 (Tasted Blind) (Virtual Tasting): Nose: 90; Palate: 89-90 (Tasted blind) Feels young, fruity.
January 11, 2019 - Beautiful medium+ garnet. Soft, mellow almost muted nose of smokey ripe black fruits, leather, tobacco, slight gaminess and minor oxidative notes. Matching palate that is smooth and savory but with a ripe black fruit core and sweet soft tannins. Perhaps a little one dimensional in approach and flavor profile but this a $20 bottle that developed decent tertiary flavors after 10 years in the cellar. 5 of 6 bought upon release and glad i have one left.
October 6, 2018 - Last bottle-held up well in the cellar.
July 23, 2017 - Very dark. Full of very dark fruit. Tasty, full bodied, powerfully flauvoured and structured. A little rustic.
February 11, 2017 - Beautiful and tempting bouquet with sweet spices like cinnamon and vanilla as well as soft dark forest fruits. On the palate the same impressions. Some sweet and salty licorice. Beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness. The tannin is lovely soft now. Really a great pleasure. Pity it was my last bottle.
February 5, 2017 - nice body with leather and minerals, pairs well with chocolate
April 23, 2015 - Drink up
May 28, 2014 - Consistent with previous notes. Full bodied, pleasant and still youthful. Should try not to drink my last bottle before 2016.
September 10, 2013 - See previous notes. I can add some licorice and leather. Still youthful. Keeping this until 2017 will not be any problem.
May 5, 2013 - Nose: mint, chocolate, prune
Taste: over the hill, prunes and high alcohol, should have drank some time ago
