August 10, 2015 - Probably held too long. Drank more like a cab than a Pinot. Very jammy.

March 26, 2015 - The color is more developed than the nose or the palate. It still tastes fresh but there is a little heat on the finish but not highly perceptible. The nose is potent, the palate is silky, the finish is long. Well made wine. Wish it was less than 15.25%ALC so I could drink more!

May 11, 2013 - Pulled this 2003 RRV pinot from a dark forgotten corner of my cellar. Now coming up on 10 years old, and I see that there hasn't been a tasting note written on this for about 3 years, so yes, it is a straggler of sorts. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised to find a wine with some fascinating reduced elements - its rich fruit now maturing. No disjointed elements, no excessive heat, no pummeling over the head with Parkeresque extraction. The alcohol levels and new oak that almost certainly were there (it was 2003 in California after all) have now faded to the background, and a more graceful, mature lady has emerged. Subtle bricking at the edges. I only wish I had another bottle to try in 2 more years, just for curiosity's sake.

February 13, 2010 - This has changed since last tasting five years ago. Now it tastes less like a pinot and more like a raspberry liquor, albeit a very delicious liquor. Gone are the more subtle wood and spice notes. Also the alcohol is very prominent. But the texture and pure hedonistic delight are still there. This is a wine I would love to watch for years, but this was, alas, my last bottle.
