June 4, 2015 - The most noble of Italy's white wines. There is a wonderful scent of honeyed edelfaule in this southern Italian wine. It lingers lusciously on the palate and results in a wine with the elegance of Chardonnay, weight of Gewurztraminer, and conspicuous length. Now entering its 7th year, still in excellent shape, composed, balanced, uncontaminated by VA or premature oxidation. Fiano is grown amid montane varieties of olives, hazelnuts, and chestnuts at about 350 to 550 m above sea level, and enjoys a diurnal temperature variation of 30 to 40 degrees F.

The village of Lapio lies on the northern slopes of a 1400 meter volcanic massif at about 450 m. It is just 3 miles south of the the village of Taurasi. The rugged local terrain rises and falls steeply between 550 m ridges and 300 m valleys. Some of the finest Italian olive oil also is produced here. The family that produces this wine has ties to the US and stresses quality. Less than 700 cases production of this low yielding variety.

September 9, 2010 - Echo a lot of other tasting notes, except I didn't find it overly acidic. I'm always looking for new stuff to try, and this Fiano grape looked interesting. Elegant and subtle with the stone minerality becoming more noticeable the more your drank. Very refreshing - a good break from standard whites.

September 2, 2010 - Naso fresco, complesso e interessante. In bocca sapido e lungo, naso poliedrico, con toni dolci ma non disturbanti.

June 13, 2010 - Nose: apple, yeast, maybe a hint of cinnamon? Taste: Crisp, big acid. Maybe a little hollow on the middle, but with some sort of an almost stone note on the back. Very long finish. Very well made, but to me its missing that burst of fruit or distinctive flavor that brings the deliciousness.
