The 2008 Syrah B.M.T. (76% Syrah and 24% Grenache) is a blend of fruit from the Tierra Alta Vineyard (50%), the Turner Vineyard (25%), and Colson Canyon (25%). Given how light the 2008 Grenache Colson Canyon is, I assume most of the finest Grenache fruit went into this B.M.T. blend as it is a killer wine. An opaque purple color is followed by sweet black raspberry, kirsch, lavender, licorice, and chalky/mineral notes. Full-bodied, exuberant, and bigger than life with tremendous purity and a terrific texture as well as finish, this beauty can be consumed over the next 10-15+ years. Joey Tensley, one of Santa Barbara’s budding superstars, produces a sensational portfolio of wines, save for his only weak spot – Grenache. The Syrahs continue to go from strength to strength, and some are realistically priced for the high quality. Tel. (805) 688-6761; Fax (805) 688-0591

July 28, 2017 - Medium body, dark color and decent extraction but soft tannins. The softness leads me to the Grenache in the blend hitch also gives it a certain sweetness. It's a good wine but now I'd like to try thr OGT which I would like better because it's more Syrah. This wine is a baby GSM without the M which would make it sweeter. Good wine but not great.

October 29, 2016 - Decanted a few hours. This wine has aged well. Big, bold, medium tannins, medium fruit. Ready to drink now or within the next year or two, but I wouldn't hold on to it much longer.

February 15, 2014 - Decanted for 1/2 hour. Blackberry, plum, muted earth notes. Full bodied, good finish. Acidity a little high for me which seems to be an issue with Colson fruit for this vintage.
