  August 9, 2013 - finally close to the reviews. wine has come together with nice fruit and spice and reasonably complex layering. fruit is dark and not bursting, but nicely moderated by the softer tannins and some smoke and hints of leather.

  February 24, 2012 - Tobacco, ash (not a bad combo) on the nose. Dry, tannic. Not an easy drink. Almost purple. Nothing fundamentally wrong. WS 90 rating. Maybe shed the softness and baby fat that got it that rating. Not my style. Angular and ridgidly tannic. I don't sense enough fruit here to stand up to the tannins. Enjoy the '07 syrah from this producer, but a rare not recommended. I would not buy this again. I will keep picking up the syrah.

  March 5, 2010 - Consistent with previous notes...one of those "in between" wines that needs some time to come into balance but doesn't have enough potential to make me want to lay it down for a year.

  January 29, 2010 - Reininger Winery Tasting (Storyteller Wine Company, Portland, OR): Replacement wine for the Carmenere that was sold out. I think this was just released, or has not been released just yet...quite a bit more forward than the 2006, with a bit more tannin showing at this time. Solid wine at a great price: $20. A lot more cassis and black pepper than the 2006 also. Even some tobacco flavors rolling around the tongue. Tasty.
