Since 2000, this wine is released as only 'Reserve' Walla Walla Valley. In older vintages, it was named 'Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon' and sometimes labeled as Washington State (1983 and 1985).
Critic tasting note: "At first blush this reserve seems more oaky, more open and more overtly alcoholic than the just-released Leonetti 2008 Merlot and 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon. After many hours of breathing time it fills in with pretty plummy fruit, toast, caramel, whiffs of smoke, cedar and cigar box, and dry tannins." - 93/100, Wine Enthusiast

- Producer Tasting Notes

The nose opens with an intense cassis, broadens to a bouquet of complex florals, and on second sniffs, reveals cedar, smoke, black fruit compote, and earth. It’s just an enchantingly complex nose. On the palate it’s no less gratifying—incredibly dense, but with wonderfully supple tannin, a glycerin-like sweetness, and incredible length.

For France and much of Europe, conditions were mostly defined by a dull spring punctuated by an unseasonably sizzling April followed by a drab summer. For France, this topsy-turvy growing season made life difficult for Bordeaux, whose resulting wines were mostly average, br...
