Community Tasting Notes 2

April 10, 2013 - Really liked the nose on this one. Smoky, gentle wood, lemon and lime with a touch of peach. Maybe a hint of sulfur as well. The palate is enjoyable as well but the lactic component bothers me. I would have liked to see more tension and energy, especially for the vintage (not that it is flabby by any means). Also maybe a tad more substance on the mid-palate. Nevertheless a good St Aubin.

March 3, 2013 - Lots of lime and lots of acid and lots of rocks. But the limey fruit has a powdery, candied aspect to it that I don't particularly like, and there's a vanillan edge to the palate -- I wonder if this is oak. The intense, almost tactile rockiness is the best thing about the wine, but it makes a strange contrast to the candied fruit, and as the wine sits in the glass the acid becomes almost overwhelming.
