January 10, 2021 - what a difference from 7 years ago when I compared this more to a California pinot. Shed it fruit forward ripeness in favor of high toned red fruit, earthy, complex and layered flavors with bright acidity. Delicious with Coq au Vin.

December 18, 2018 - PnP through vinituri, balance decanted and drank over two hours.Pretty, complex nose--red fruit/spice, that isn't as impressive on the palate where fruit is darker. A bit of something greener in the middle. Lighter early, gains weight. Moderate length. Decanting did not help as much as I expected. Not bad, hoped for more. 89-90

April 13, 2018 - I got a little nervous when I poured this, as the color was quite mahogany, making me think it was cooked and/or past prime. Luckily the first sip proved me wrong - sure, the fruit was on the riper side, but the earthiness and spice kept it interesting.

March 17, 2018 - Quite light but pleasant earth/forest floor, strawberry and red cherry aromas and flavors. Light integrating tannins/acids. Fairly uninteresting/tight on day one, much better on day two so no idea where this is at in its aging curve given previous positive notes but I'll be saving my last bottle for a few years.

September 4, 2016 - Brought to Robert and Mylene's for Sunday dinner. Initially very tight and austere, this required a full hour before showing its best. At that point, pretty aromas of earth, sous bois and spice began to fill the glass. Full-bodied, but quite elegant in weight and texture. Also quite earthy on the palate, but with just enough tart, tangy cherry and pomegranate fruit to keep things in balance. Displayed excellent depth and focus. Finishes quite long, with hints of mineral and spice, a lively acidity, and velvety tannins that are almost fully integrated. Just slightly herbal and austere - which is typical for the vintage - but still a harmonious and very enjoyable Gevry-Chambertin. Paired nicely with Mylene's pork roast.

April 29, 2016 - A bit lifted on the nose, perhaps showing a bit of VA. The palate is disappointing and shrill, perhaps even showing a bit of heat damage (though a previous bottle from the same case did not). Certainly not showing a lot of potential. Hopefully unique to the bottle and not the entire case (Purchased from Wine Library). With air, nose becomes a bit deeper, but the palate does not improve.

December 26, 2015 - Decanted for around 30 mins. Consistent notes with previous bottle. Very elegant on the palate and expressive on the nose. The wine definitely needs a bit of air to open up as the best sips were the last ones. Fantastic wine.

August 27, 2015 - Red-fruited, elegant nose; red berries and minerality on the palate. Very good, and ready to go now.
