March 31, 2024 - Holding nicely at the moment, with decaying earth, leather, minerals; salted caramel, strawberries in balsamic vinegar. There’s nothing overtly fruity, but this is enjoyable nonetheless. Sophisticated.
November 26, 2023 - Very fresh and exciting classical nose - menthol, forest floor, wet stones, tobacco...beautiful! But that it was! The palate can't fulfill the promise. Even after 4 hours no evolution on the green impression - drying tannins, nearly no fruit, no structure and the tertiary notes are in the background. No pressure nor length. Fading? It was for sure no off bottle! Pts: nose 92, palate 87)
November 21, 2023 - A very fine wine. I was told this is a typical Pauillac, so I should watch out for more ;-)
Light and elegant, cassis, graphite, leather and much more. (WL)
September 9, 2023 - What’s better than a bottle you more or less ignored, because you had others you thought should be drunk next? This is in a perfect place, secondaries fully present, garnering “wow” from my wife and friends who were lucky enough to share with me. I cannot see it getting better. Quintessential pauillac
July 24, 2023 - Boston Wine & Poker, Lincoln, Mass.: Very tannic, with a prickly quality, and a strong metallic edge. If this hasn't relaxed at all in 29 years, I am not sure that it ever will.
July 5, 2023 - Disappointing
June 11, 2023 - Crazy into neck fill. Super deep color, with no real bricking but a bit of clearing at the rim. Could pass for a recent vintage. With a 2 hour decant , fairly tight nose with a little alcohol. Shows the vintage, with more iron and tannin that fruit. Not as complex as a fine aged Bordeaux should be, but has some class. I’d love to think this would continue to improve given the structure but there isn’t fruit today, so you’d be banking on more tertiary development. This is a matter of taste.
May 21, 2023 - Drinking beautifully. Decanted for 4 hours.
Smoky cedar and ripe cherries.
Smooth finish. non tanic
enjoyed with aged cheese, strawberries, grapes and mixed nuts
April 9, 2023 - Still a good wine but vs by last note two years ago this has rather gone downhill/. The flavor and nose is dominated by leather with a real dustiness to it and much less fruit. Still enjoyable with a good structure of acid and soft tannins with a long finish, but I’ll need to drink the rest of my bottles pronto.
December 25, 2022 - Wonderful Pauillac. Text book nose and decent palette. Still very much alive. Love old bordeaux.
