December 8, 2019 - A nose full of cinnamon, cardamon, cassis, smoky peppermint, dried seaweed, sweet and well-seasoned tobacco leaf, cherry and very sweet strawberry. What a gorgeous and captivating set of aromas. It's medium bodied with acid and robust acid in nice balance. It turns just slightly bitter on the finish, which gets a good dousing of dusty tannin. The flavors center around baking spice box, smoked cedar plank, dark cherry concentrate, spruce, blood orange and black pepper. This is rather stout with a big personality for a 52-year old wine. Impressive and special. The nose warrants a 94 or 95.

August 9, 2018 - Lots of tertiaries on the nose. The Fruit is darker than the Maucaillou and this bottle is definitely more developed. No overripeness but there is leather, and wet fur on the nose. Some sweetness from the fruit in mid-palate. Surprised there still is some left. As time goes by, this pulls together, but a couple of hours later it declines. It is fragile after 51 years in that bottle. Great experience to have two '67s side by side.

July 4, 2007 - From a magnum. Opened 4 hours in advance. Mold and mildew aromas. Cork disintegrated on extraction. Not promising! Recorked after 4 hours, poured at 5. Aromas of currants, prunes. Dark piurple, little bricking. Cloudy (it did travel 7 hours by car to get here and only rested for 3 days). All were surprised at the taste when poured; cassis, currants, some oxidation and funk. Surprisingly drinkable. Fruit appears to still be there, tho' clearly past it's prime. Broke out some Explorator cheese and the two complimented each other very well. We drank the whole bottle and relished the experience. This was a wine purchased for our wedding year. unsure of provenance, but both the wine and our marriage seem to have weathered the intervening 40 years. Not rated, but enjoyed.
