June 2, 2022 - Bottle 1101/4969. Green stems, perfume, spice and red currant. So pretty, expressive and alluring on the palate right out of the gate. Consistently good like other 98 Leroy I had. 93-94

December 21, 2018 - Leroy night. Floral, airy classical aromatics. Mineral palate with some density. Intense, persistent bit finished a bit muddled. (1236/4969)

May 26, 2016 - Not a typical Leroy. The initial intense nose and taste of iron dissipated with aeration and some Vosne spice nose emerged, but it was subdued compared to other vintages of this wine. I noted more 1998 character than Vosne or Leroy: ripe dark fruit, earth, rocks, minerals. This is drinking well now thanks to its abundant fruit and even comes across as young. The fine tannins emerge in the finish but are not abrasive. This is fine given the vintage but not a wine that I will pursue after my few bottles are gone.

December 31, 2014 - Compared to the Brûlées this was much more stern and compact. Over a couple hours and with some food, the nuances of rhubarb, dark fruit, spice and iron came out. On its own this is lovely the but Brûlées really is in a better place right now.

December 29, 2014 - Burgundy Dinner with Friends (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): Popped-and-poured, this wine kept getting better with more air and time in glass. Meaty and dense with lots of red and black cherry flavors of aromas. Served alongside the Leroy 98 Brulees, this started a distant 2nd but slowly gained ground.

(Domaine Leroy Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts) Light-medium strawberry red color; beautiful tart strawberry, anise and minerals nose; great, tart strawberry with depth, minerality and rosehips; long finish

(Leroy Vosne Romanee 1er Cru "Les Beaux Monts") This wine was deep. Dark fruit flavors, mashed flowers aromas and a hauntingly elegant palate with some nice toasty oak and lacey supple texture. The tannins were velvety and the wine was elegant and sappy. The purity was very noticeable. Seemed closed and only got more closed towards the end of the night. This was really singing for only around twenty minutes. Incredble potential.
