June 5, 2012 - After having consumed this bottle I would not have guessed I had paid so little. Not that price is everything, but it can help. Very pale yellow, greenish tints, redolent of petroleum on the nose, with a few herbal notes thrown in; mineral, lime and grapefruit on the palate, slightly oily texture (it is slightly a wonder that elements of engine fuels should also be attractive in wine). Consume with some spicy meal and you won't be disappointed.

April 6, 2012 - Really rich federspiel. All rocks, ripe, racing acidity. Absolutely delicious but perhaps riper than i was expecting/wanted. High qpr when you consider what a bottle of smaragd achleiten goes for.

July 25, 2011 - Unscrewed and poured. Medium-light yellow gold hue. On the nose, this one shows fresh, upfront fruit aromas of ripe apple, stone fruits, pear along with a subtle herbaceous note tinged with minerals. Medium-light body, with admirable concentration. On the palate, the fruit is as pure as indicated on the nose, with flavors of peach slices, ripe lemon, fresh yellow beets, bitter greens, and an intriguing note of freshly crushed green peppercorns on the back. Almost chewy. Moderate level of acidity keeps this one fresh on the mineral-laden close, which is quite lengthy and seems to last indefinitely. A great bottle of Grüner that is drinking wonderfully at present and should continue to do so over the short to midterm.

January 4, 2011 - This was quite tasty with a salad for New Year's dinner. Lots of herbal and green notes in it. Not really a sip by itself wine though.

April 7, 2010 - Walker Portfolio Tasting (Al Forno): This is a fantastically complex, medium bodied wine that is all about deliciousness. 90-91
