April 14, 2024 - First time having Ostreon and I was very taken aback (in a good way). Perfectly balanced, full of lush red fruit with lead, leather, and forresty notes. Drinking incredibly well now, but has a long future. Excellent stuff.
December 2, 2018 - Decanted for 1hr, drank over 3hrs. Slight nose of black/tart cherry, not a strong aroma. Palette of tart cherries (in a good way) with a good balance of savory leather and soil round soft tannins with medium finish. Fresh bite of acidity, not an overly ripe fruit bomb typical to other Napa cabs, very well balanced and enjoyable wine. Would drink again.
October 27, 2015 - No detailed notes; bodied, still developing. Hour of air saw this open nicely.
April 26, 2014 - Brought this to New Buffalo. Decanted for 2 hours. 3rd time I have gad this wine with consistent notes. A well balanced wine and food friendly. 91 points.
November 7, 2013 - This wine is drinking well now but will just keep getting better. Nice dark fruit, plum and leather. Very drinkable now but once everything integrates, this will be quite stellar. For now, I'll keep some in the cellar!
September 5, 2013 - Opened at Otis' CDP party. At least the 2nd time I have had this and it was showing very well. No formal notes. 91-92 points.
February 17, 2013 - Chinese Dinner in L.A. (Elite Chinese Restaurant - Los Angeles, CA): Big and rich with lots of dark fruits and mocha. Thick palate, with some nice balance. Super young, but should mature nicely.
July 3, 2012 - Decanted about an hour before drinking with baby back ribs. Initial taste and smell was crazy green with herbs and eucalyptus - not very inviting at all. It started to show some nice dark fruit (mixed in with the green flavors) after a couple hours, and the dark fruit became more prominent as night went on. However, even after nearly 6 hours, it was still having hints of the greenness. At that point, though, it had great blackberry and tobacco flavors that blended really well. I would suggest leaving this be, although I can't be sure that it will shed all of that greenness.
May 15, 2012 - Although I got a waft of dark fruit as soon as I popped the cork, that almost overdone blueberry has now mellowed quite a bit. Drinking well now and will continue to for some time.
February 13, 2012 - Still very young. Popped and poured initially. I noted black cherry and some cassis on the nose. The tastes were black cherry, plum and some chocolate. I drank some on the first day and then drank the rest on day 3. It was stored in my Sowine over the weekend. It was opened up nicely. Cassis, leather, chocolate and black cherry exploded on the palate. I still think that this could use a few more years, so I'll wait to open my last 2 bottles. This was an excellent Berserkerday buy!
