February 10, 2024 - Drank another last nite along side of a rosemary & black pepper crusted, pan roasted veal rib chop & onion with side of tarragon carrots.
The wine is stable & sound, with dark garnet core & very little brick on the rim. Aromas & flavors per prior note, quite savory. Tannic structure was perfect for this entree. Excellent pairing.
Bumping my score +1 point. Recommend to drink within 4 years.
September 2, 2023 - This aged very well, showing the value of this modest bottle. Seems at peak, and fair to drink near term rather than waiting longer. Decanted. Modest dried rose petal aromas with sweet ripe cherries. Slowly, scents of creosote or tar begin to emerge. Substantially red fruited & satisfying as any good bourgogne, yet with far more tannic structure. Delicious with beef tartare, quail egg yolk, capers, and balsamic-molasses reduction which pulled forth more of the nebbiolo's creosote.
October 27, 2017 - Consistently delicious as before.
May 28, 2017 - NA
November 7, 2016 - Another ridiculously delicious bottle of this cheap stuff. Vibrant perfumed nose that keeps on giving. Palate is full-bodiel with big nebbiolo fruit, camphor and acidity, with a good hit of tannins. No sign of aging. I'm moving drink by date back another year. For all of you out there that have some of this left in your cellar -- be happy -- it is in great shape.
May 11, 2015 - Typical nebbiolo color, light and clear. Very aromatic. Smooth texture propped up by fairly firm tannins. A bit hot on the finish. Great with food. A fine value.
March 14, 2015 - Continues to be a remarkable value. Big earthy nose full of dark fruit and menthol. Palate has a full-bodied mouth feel with big nebbiolo fruit, camphor and acidity, with a good hit of tannin as it winds down.
December 19, 2014 - Very good value. Great fruit/acid balance. Drink up.
November 27, 2014 - Earth, tar, floral nose -- big nose. Dark nebbiolo fruit with good acidity and a firm set of tannins at end.
August 26, 2014 - Another luscious bottle.
