Community Tasting Notes 5

November 26, 2017 - This wine has passed its prime long time ago. 25 years old age for Montrachet Grand Cru should be just fine, so I blame either premox or poor storage or bottle variation.

The color was deep amber. Oxidative aromas, mature cheese. It also had surprisingly those Sauternes notes of noble rot. How weird is that!

    Still great experience!

August 26, 2013 - Birthday Celebration (Del Frisco - Chicago IL): Popped and poured. Very enticing, lush stone fruit aromatic start with plenty of spice. Similar flavors to start, with good acidity and minerality, but this started losing energy fairly quickly and was far less interesting after 30-45 minutes vs when first opened.

February 2, 2013 - Wines Tasted at HDH Auction (Tru Restaurant - Chicago IL): Dark color. Ripe apple aromas with both some mature and sweet hints. Big-scaled and powerful on palate, picking up complexity and density with more time in glass. Great ripe fruit throughout, with some elegant spice emerging on finish. Better than another bottle from a few months ago.

October 20, 2012 - 50th Birthday Celebration Dinner with Wine (Chez Schmidt - Chicago IL): Ripe apple and pear to start aromatically. Flavors of both orchard and stone fruit, ripe and powerful. Starts showing age on finish. At its peak now, perhaps just slightly better a few years back.

(Domaine Jacques Prieur Montrachet) Medium golden color with 1 millimeter clear meniscus; rich, buttery, baked lemon, light hazelnut nose; mature, creamy textured, tasty, tangy lemon, preserved lemon, mineral palate; on the decline but fading with aplomb; medium-plus finish
