November 6, 2018 - Nice Cab nose. Pretty tannic which overwhelms the fruit

March 24, 2018 - Essence of cabernet. No flaws. Exceptional color in the glass. Low tannin/acid. Medium alcohol. Long finish. So, so ready to drink.

January 21, 2013 - 14.9% alcohol. decanted, and followed in the glass for 2+ hours. i'm fully aware of the pedigree/personality of the winemaker, a current up and comer, and internet wine darling. good for him. this and other vineyard designates are garnering big CT! scores, but are they truly justified? i'm skeptical. by this time in development, i figure we should start seeing some tannin shed, and a peek-a-boo of integrated complexity if you want to get a 95 from me. i'm not witnessing that tonight. what i do get is a mildly over extracted, bulky in the oak department, run of the mill uber expensive wine that lifts itself above the general fray, but doesn't distinguish itself. unresolved tannin is very drying on the finish, a sign of trouble for me. somewhat angular and one dimensional. naysayers will argue that the wine is too young, blah, blah, blah. not saying it isn't a decent wine, just not a great one. one totally subjective problem for me is that it has a strong coffee note, a flavor i despise, but i've tried to legislate that out of my objective evaluation. hold, i guess, but...

November 25, 2012 - Some great wines over Thanksgiving (Kapcsandy, Saxum, Pott, Huet, Autard); 11/21/2012-11/25/2012: Purple in color. The nose is great. Cassis, black raspberries, still showing some oak. On the palate, this is a big wine and still very young but drinking nicely. Cassis, blueberries and black raspberries. Also a smoked note. Great texture. Kept opening all afternoon (watching the OSU-Michigan game). Probably five years from peak, but delicious now.
