January 11, 2019 - Still going strong. Pale and cloudy amber color. Looks oxidized. In the nose, this is murky at first, but with air it really blossoms. Typical Joly nose of slight oxidation, some botrytis, slate, but with a really fresh background composed of white flowers and lemongrass. Beautiful. In the mouth, this is quite spectacular, tight, forceful, but graceful, the 15% Vol. ABV are really well hidden, deep and complex minerality, nice acidity, long and nuanced finish. This is really excellent.

April 18, 2017 - Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #018: Nicolas Joly; Savennieres, Loire, France. (by DJ): Beautiful and clean bouquet with yellow and white fruits and some honey, apricots and straw. Same on the palate. Limestone minerals. Grapefruit bitterness and good citrus acidity. Also some white fruits and fennel. Fresh wine without oxidized impression.

November 17, 2014 - Leo's Blind Tasting Group - Nov '14 edition (Txikito, NY): Honeyed, floral, and faintly oxidative nutty and sherried aromas lead into a palate that seems very disjointed - sweet honeyed and creamy notes up front, but a blur of bitter alcoholic flavours on the back end with a lot of finishing heat. I disliked this even more than the Coulée de Serrant.

August 14, 2014 - Drank at U Club. Amber like color, perhaps a bit premature. Nose is tight with flower, honey, wax and ash. Palate is singular, with heat on the finish. Some notes of orange, mineral wax, grey rock and honey. Not as impressive as previous notes.

August 8, 2013 - I really liked this bottle, and I am glad I had another taste to it. Bee wax, light honey, medicinal candy, refreshing. Beautiful, subtle and well balanced (even with peppery smoked mackerel). Maybe missing a bit of depth, because we had so many good wines recently, but so good nonetheless. Did not feel the alcohol % (15%). If I had more bottles, I don't think I would age it more. Buy and Drink.

November 18, 2011 - Not as complex and layered as a Coulée, but an epic wine nonetheless. In constant evolution once opened. I almost regretted opening this bottle early, as it should keep for a while still.

October 17, 2011 - Second time with this wine and this bottle seemed more alive. Brighter acidity and fruit. A cleaner and lighter mouthfeel but still contained that lovely oxidized wooly Chenin funk. Great on its own and rocked with multiple cheeses. Long enticing finish of pears, citrus, nuts, sea, and herbs. Would and want to purchase more.
