February 29, 2024 - Decanted by good friend for 12 hrs prior to serving. Deep dense maroon and ruby color. Herbal notes (spearmint and tomato?), cherry, old leather on the nose. Black cherry, herbal tones, earth, and leather on the palate with 35 sec finish. Strong acidity that begs for food pairing, which definitely enhanced both food (short rib pasta) and wine. Still felt young but beautifully made and a nice birthday treat.
January 25, 2024 - CdB BoG; 1/25/2024-1/27/2024 (Denver): Lost my detailed notes so going from memory a few weeks later. This was drinking at peak or maybe just past. Mature fruit and lovey smooth tannins. Very nice.
January 5, 2024 - Drinking well now. Just left it in the bottle and it lasted us around 2 hours before it started to fall off. Should benefit a bit more with age but I think its at its peak drinking window.
November 12, 2023 - DnP
Medium dark red, rather slim yellow edge, 5.5
Wonderful generous bouquet, mature Bdx, forest floor, red fruits, pencil, complex.
Harmonious palate, mT, mA, mB, dry, well balanced, still fruit left, elegant finish leaving a long tobacco like note.
Drink now-2028.
This is totally ready and will probably be so for some years. But I don’t believe it’ll be for long term cellaring.
March 17, 2023 - First bottle in 5 years. Still presents youthful. An herbal nose, loam, hints of dusty cherry, leather. Palate gives green peppers, more nettles, hints of pith and cherry rinds. Curious if this softens over time
January 13, 2023 - This wine was a nice surprise. It is a delicious Bordeaux, interesting and drinking beautifully right now
Dark and just turning a bit brickish at the rim. The nose is a combination of blackberries and allspice or clove - plus some smokiness and a hint of green tomato.
The palate experience is blackberries with a savoriness and a slightly spicy finish. There is tannin but it is fine and subtle. 92+
November 4, 2022 - Aging well, balanced, some tertiary complexity.
September 28, 2022 - Decanted for an hour, had with steak dinner. Writing from memory
Lots of cedar and leather on the nose. Palate was true to BDX with medium light body, lighter colored fruit, and some savory character. Finish showed earthy rocky character and some trailing herbal red fruit.
Good wine that fleshed out and opened up more with time. Interestingly, the fruit chatacter of the wine showed even more when paired with food. For me, this is not a wine to sip on its own—it should be had with food.
Drink now. In a good place but will hold for longer.
May 1, 2022 - Bouteille classique, à point! Excellent
April 3, 2022 - Nice to break-in to some of our '00 Bordeaux. Aromas of red berries, cedar chips, milk chocolate, and cough drops played beautifully together and intensified after about an hour in the decanter. Medium weight in the mouth with black cherry, pencil lead, and leather chair. The finish cut-off rather abruptly. Solid wine with the right amount of ripeness and classic characteristics but without enough depth to make a particularly lasting impression. Drink now or soon.
