February 21, 2015 - This wine is a thin translucent garnet in color, with a nice initial nose of spice, red fruit and sweet cherry. I wonder if it makes sense to say that this has a 'flat mid-palate'? That is my impression, in any case. Strong on Zinfandel and Syrah flavors, and I would have hoped for a CS-Merlot dominance. As always I will reflect more on day two, but for now I am left with the impression of this as being a somewhat better than average table wine.
I see WE rated this as an 80 point wine, noting the wine impresses as sugary (they add Porty), this too was my first impression . Though I feel the 80 point mark would be inconsistently harsh for me to abide to given my prior scoring on lessor wine (it is after all amateur review), I will acknowledge that a score of 85 seems generous on reflection. -
