Community Tasting Notes 8

February 7, 2017 - Favorite of a flight of 5 2007 CdP normale and a single tete du cuvee, the Centenaire. Least expensive wine of the flight, a pleasant surprise!

September 9, 2012 - The color is light ruby to the edge and darker ruby with hints of purple violet towards the robe. There are jammy smells of currants, cherry, blueberry, and dark chocolate. The tastes are cherry, currants, briary fruit (blackberry, raspberry), black olive, coffee, with peppery notes, some herbs and minerality. The tannins are elegant and satin-like and the body is moderate in weight, not heavy. The finish is long and I like the complexity of taste and aroma. This wine reminds me why I like CdP as much as I do. With time, it opens and reveals more.

July 2, 2012 - Popped and poured. Quite dark in the glass. Great nose of dark fruit, cola, sweetness, herbs, anise, menthol. Silky in the mouth with just a hint of tannin. Dark fruit, herbs, earth, tobacco. Not very fruit forward at all. Medium finish is a bit sweet, more earthiness.

All in all a great CdP. Wish I had more.

August 27, 2011 - Decant for two hours plus for the best showing.

March 12, 2011 - first bottle was strained through someone's dirty socks — went back to jacques at old port wine, who so graciously replaced the bot. this one was lovely. herby and tarry, with hints of percolated espresso and seared orange peel on the nose, followed by rich olive tapenade on the palate. not very fruity. medium to full-bodied. needs lamb. aromas and flavors were going deeper after a few hours, but then it was gone.
