March 17, 2024 - Color (13/15): Ruby red with rusty / cloudy complexion
Aroma (19/20): Floral notes with some wet leather and raisin
Palate (25/30): Bright red berry with some cherry notes in the mid-palate with a little burn on the finish (14.5% alcohol on label might be a little low?).
Overall: 32/35): I really enjoyed the nose and the front of the palate but as it opened the middle/late palate transitioned to raisin / stewed fruit with a bit of an alcohol burn.

October 7, 2023 - Deep ruby. Flowery herb nose. Dried plum and flint on palate. Excellent body, needs time. Has a solid 10 years to go.

March 13, 2022 - Soft and sexy, the vintage speaks here, plenty of toast and cocao, but this remains a well structured wine. Still young IMHO, but certainly approachable. 91+

June 17, 2021 - Nice wine, on the feminine side. Not my style, Brad rated it higher 91-92. Not something I would seek out, I have 1 more bottle that I will give 5 years.

January 16, 2021 - Very good Barolo, better than my note from 3 years ago. Leather, cedar, a hint of oak and bourbon with a long finish. Better after a few hrs open, different but not really better on day 2. The wine shows what a Barolo can be, but I don't get the layers of complexity and very high scores of other reviewers.

November 24, 2019 - A small 2007 Barolo check-in (My place, Chicago IL): There is a brawny quality to the nose with deep and layered tones of Licorice, black cherries, raspberries, violets, tar, earth, tobacco, dark red berries, juniper, and some liqueur tones. The Medium/full bodied feel is deep and plush with tart, high acidity and silky, high tannins. This is a flat out gorgeous wine. It is drinking on the earlier side, but is also shows off all of the reasons why I love Massolino's Vigna Rionda. It has heft and power without being unrestrained while showing off a deft touch on the palate with a lengthy finish.

June 22, 2019 - HDH auction at Spiaggia; 6/20/2019-6/22/2019 (Chicago, IL): Heady, ripe cherry and really big. Tons of sweet fruit, but none of the overdone qualities that I don't like. No oak; just a little too fruit-forward and fleshy right now. Probably insufficiently structural for long-term aging but enjoyable enough now.

May 21, 2018 - Agree with the Burgundian style of this wine, although still a Barolo.
Nose was exciting and complex however the initial taste didn't live up to the smell.
After about an hour or two, this really started to come together.
Depth, complexity - everything you'd ask for.

March 30, 2018 - Super complex nose of black tea, tar, dark plum, but also plenty of red fruit, savory herbs, lavender, tobacco, violets. Medium-full bodied, dense and super balanced, has medium-high super silky and polished tannin and medium-high acidity. Excellent length. Still very young but so beautiful.... wow. Almost Burgundian in texture.
